About The Barbour Foundation
The Barbour Foundation was created in 1988 by Dame Margaret Barbour and aimed to support charitable organisations that aid and enrich the lives of the people of the North East of England. We believe in giving back to the community that helped grow the Barbour business into what it is today and are proud to support a wide range of causes across the region. Through our grant making activities, we have been able to donate and reinvest over £32 million back into communities.
Our Purpose
We believe that it is our responsibility and duty to help to support the northeast community that has been our company and family’s home for nearly 130 years and want to provide charitable causes with the financial means to be able to strike at the heart of the challenges we face as a community today. Through growing charitable organisations, we can in turn grow communities and help alleviate the pressures and struggles that they face.
We have a wide range of objectives that we fund which allow us to respond to the ever-changing challenges that the North East must deal with. These areas include social & economic welfare, disability & Special needs, youth employment & skills, homelessness & community, medical research & health, heritage, environment & arts, national and international crisis & humanitarian aid. To find out more about the cause and organisations that we support, please visit the Our Work section of the website.
